De Luce Brera /(Fallahi Rhythm)Album : Eternal Egypt – 1996
This album was my first collaboration with Hossam Ramzy, who made possible a style of music I had imagined for many years! Says Phil Thornton. During the recording of this album Hossam was also on a major world tour with ‘Jimmy Page and Robert Plant’ (from the legendary Rock Band Led Zeppelin). While he was taking a break in Egypt he was able to record some Quartertone Accordion and Kawala flute for the album, both of which are very distinctive Egyptian sounds in today’s music that is created in the heart of Cairo.
This material ended up being used on tracks 4, 5 and 6. Track 1 was developed from a ‘Mandragora’ jam session and is one of my personal favourites. I had first heard of Hossam Ramzy back in 1989 through his work on Peter Gabriel’s album ‘Passion’ and our own track 2 takes a certain amount of its inspiration from the ancient ‘Zaar’ trance rhythm featured on ‘Passion’ as well as on Hossam’s album ‘Rhythms of the Nile’. Towards the end of the album the style starts to head more towards modern Egyptian music which in retrospect was a taste of things to come with the next albums ‘Immortal Egypt’ and ‘Enchanted Egypt’. Tibetan bowl Sound Healing is an effective and proven modality that uses vibrational sound to help reduce stress, alter consciousness and create a deep feeling of peace, well-being and better health. Among the many effects of Sound healing – are relief from pain, stress-related conditions, the ability to alter ones consciousness. As a healer I consider myself a conduit through which healing flows from a higher power , as part of my healing work with people I use meditation but also the Tibetan singing bowl which connects with the enegies and vibrations within the temples of Egypt.
There are many techniques of healing with sound. Mantras and chants have been used for thousands years. Many acoustical instruments are used in a diverseness of ways to effect change. The human voice is perhaps the most powerful musical instrument.
Ancient instruments, including the tibetan singing bowl that I personally use creates vibrational sound harmonics at the frequency of AUM or OM. This sound is often known as that of Perfection impacts the sympathetic nervous system as brain waves synchronise to the vibrations of the bowls. The harmonical vibrations engage the relaxation reflex and slow up the respiratory, heart and brain rate and disrupt the pain reflex, creating a deep sense of well-being.
Caroline Dekker uses the tibetan bowl in the temples of egypt, along with meditation & massage to assist healing and relaxation and to open the chakras to offer my clients a wonderful sense of wellbeing.
